Union Loafers: The Botanical Heights Café Serving Up Fresh Breads Daily

 In Food, Guide

If you’re looking for a new café to add to your list of weekly breakfast and lunch stops, consider Union Loafers in the Botanical Heights neighborhood. Since 2015, the café has served artisanal breads ranging from light and mild sourdoughs to yeasty ciabatta and baguette.

Those hoping to get a loaf or two will have to move fast, as the bakery sells its breads from 11 a.m. until it’s sold out (or until the eatery closes at 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Sundays). However, you can still get a taste of their breads by ordering from their menu of lunch sandwiches, which includes a rare roast beef on ciabatta, or the café’s twist on the classic PB&J: peanut butter, Concord grape jam, whipped butter and Maldon Sea Salt on potato bread. The café also keeps the beverages local, serving coffee from Blueprint and Kaldi’s and beers from local breweries.

For those who want to miss the breakfast and lunch crowds, Union Loafers is also open for dinner from Wednesday through Saturday. Diners can order pizzas and salads complemented by a house cocktail, house soda or glass of wine.
