Five Storytelling Open Mics in St. Louis
1. SHE Stories: Self Love
SHE Stories: Self Love is a storytelling open mic. event hosted by Super Heroines, Etc., a local nonprofit that aims to empower women. The event will take place at Shameless Grounds, a sex-positive cafe in Benton Park, on Friday, Feb. 8, from 7-9 p.m. Registration is required through Eventbrite, but the ticket is free. The stories shared will celebrate self-love and foster an environment of acceptance and confidence in preparation for a month focused on love. 2. Second Tuesdays
Wine enthusiasts may be interested in attending Second Tuesdays at UrbArts, a nonprofit creative space in Old North. The organization hosts a monthly storytelling series with a new theme for every show. The cost to attend is $5, which includes complimentary wine. The next show, themed They Honeymoon Period, will take place on Feb. 12 from 7:30-9 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) hosted by Chiffontae Ross and Kameel Stanley. 3. Sorry, Please Continue
Sorry, Please Continue is a live storytelling show and podcast that takes place on the last Wednesday of every month from 8-10 p.m., typically at The Heavy Anchor, a welcoming and whimsical South City dive. Shows cost $5 and can vary in theme with topics such as dating, travel, revenge, family, the “grab bag” and more. Email ComedyVsEverything@gmail.com to be added to the list of storytellers.

4. Saint Louis Story Stitchers
Saint Louis Story Stitchers is a nonprofit organization that aims to tell the story of St. Louis in all its diversity through art and word. The group hosts shows regularly, with a slate of storytellers chosen through auditions. This season’s auditions will take place on March 2 at the Stitchers Storefront Studio on Skinker Boulevard. Its upcoming show, titled “Peace in the Prairie,” will take place at 7 p.m. on March 21 in the .ZACK theater in Grand Center. Tickets cost $15.
5. Story Lounge
Story Lounge is a monthly series hosted at the colorful Sophie’s Artist Lounge & Cocktail Club in the .ZACK building in Grand Center. Each night of stories often has a theme from fresh starts to first impressions, and the next show is on Feb. 28 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., with Beverly Brennan and Ken Haller as the MCs and a rotating storyteller special guest.
