Where to Shop in Nashville: Emil Erwin Luxury Leather Goods

 In Feature, Style

If you’re a Nashville native or visiting Music City, we have to share one of our favorite places in the city to shop: Emil Erwin, a luxury-leather-and-home-goods retailer offering wallets, belts, bags, furniture and more from longtime artisan, artist and designer Emil Congdon. Located in the up-and-coming Buchanon Arts District of the North Nashville neighborhood, a visit to Emil Erwin is well worth your time. Walking into the minimal yet elegant white-walled showroom, you’ll see the fruits of Congdon’s obsessive labor and meticulous craft, culminating in lifelong, specialty pieces that will endure in the way that only handmade, artisan-crafted pieces can.

One of our favorites is the Augustine handbag, a sleek and refined leather bag available in a variety of colors, formed with a design that took Congdon years to perfect. Costing $1,695, each one takes over 40 hours to make by hand in-studio and must be ordered six months in advance. In addition to apparel, you’ll also find leather-upholstered furniture, barstools and home goods, which bring a refined, cozy touch to an office, business or residential space. And while Congdon definitely specializes in ultra-luxury pieces, knowing all that goes into developing each one and the level of extraordinary craftsmanship evidenced, it’s worth the investment in our book.
