Taste of St. Louis kicks off this Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday, but voting for the People’s Choice Award competition has been underway for more than a month. With more than 1,800 votes, The Drunken Fish has nabbed the spot of the 2014 People’s Choice Restaurant.

This marks the first year of the foodie festival being held in Chesterfield, and that’s not all that’s new. The inaugural Budweiser Taste of St. Louis “Best Bite” contest will be held this year, in which patrons of the fest can use their smartphone or tablet to vote for their favorite restaurant item onsite.

Guests can win, too—20 lucky winners will receive dinner for two at one of the participating Restaurant Row restaurants, including Annie Gunn’s, Bishop’s Post, Bogart’s Smokehouse, Sugarfire Smokehouse and more than 30 other eateries. The “Best Bite” winner will be announced on Monday, Sept. 22.

This year, the 2014 Budweiser Taste of St. Louis is also adding fireworks for the whole family on Friday and Sunday nights at dark.

As previously reported by ALIVE, two major celebrity chefs will headline the Ultimate Food Experience. Tyler Florence, host of “The Great Food Truck Race” and “Food Court Wars,” and Duff Goldman of the Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes” will take the stage.

Following the big-name chefs, two bands will play. National recording artists Big Head Todd and the Monsters rock the Bud Light Amphitheater Stage at 8:30pm on Sept. 19. St. Louis’ own The Urge will take the stage Sept. 20 at 8:15pm after Duff Goldman.

Kid City is returning this year with a new twist, the Culinaria World’s Largest Gooey Butter Cake. The gooey butter cake will be 40 feet long and 1 ½ feet wide, with more than 36 pounds of powdered sugar alone. Guinness World Record officials will be documenting the cake for a world record at the Budweiser Taste of St. Louis.

Admission to the festival is free and includes access to Sauce Magazine’s Restaurant Row, the Stella Artois Chef Battle Royale Culinary Competition, the Showcase Stage and the Art & Wine Walk. General admission tickets to the amphitheater shows featuring the celebrity chef showcases, national act concerts and the Beers of the World Tasting Experience, are on sale online.
