What To Wear: STLFW Kick-Off Party, Blogger Edition
Saint Louis Fashion Week is proud to officially kick off ten days of fashion and art today at Three-Sixty, rooftop of the Hilton at the Ballpark located Downtown. The night also marks the inaugural Fashion Blogger Awards. Local fashion bloggers will be awarded in categories ranging from “Best Personal Style” to “Craving a Comeback,” dedicated to the bloggers who have sadly forgotten their beloved blogs.
As for any fashion-conscious party-goer, wardrobe planning can be quite the feat. Thankfully, we reached out to a handful of our favorite local fashion bloggers for some insight on how to dress to impress for this highly anticipated event.
Emily Iovaldi and Danica Friederich found inspiration from a vintage band jacket the pair stumbled upon in one of their favorite thrift stores. “We love to mix vintage with modern pieces. Recently, we have found ourselves pairing structured menswear pieces with soft feminine dresses like this lace one. We prefer simple accessories, like the jacket, to be front and center.” Check out the pair’s daily dose of unique style and delicious recipes at Fox & Gypsy.
Sarah Stallmann aka Wicked Wallflower gained inspiration from the recent Spring 2014 menswear collections and the liberal use of the color blue. “Mixing sporty accent pieces with patterned accessories and a contrasting brown trouser gives you a look that is balanced, on trend and 100 percent unique.” In addition to rocking iconic 90s-inspired looks on her personal blog, Stallmann also contributes to Style Notes.
ALIVE staffer and social media extraordinaire Lindsay Pattan is no stranger to the fashion blogger community; her widely followed fashion and lifestyle blog Heartland Underdog has positioned her as a fashion expert amongst the city’s style-savvy. “My inspiration for this outfit is the bliss of a well-designed silhouette combined with the geometric trends the industry has recently embraced.”
No Shorts, No Losses
The personal blog of yours truly is an aspirational fashion blog that allows the reader a voyeuristic-style view into the life of the seemingly unattainable. My inspiration for this look was to mix the cool vibes of downtown street-style with the clean lines and decadence of an uptown boy. Don’t let the camouflage fool you, there won’t be any blending in with this ensemble.
Mint Julep 87
Holly Scoggins-Kern is the brain behind the blog Mint Julep 87. The fair-skinned beauty manages to take the seriousness out of fashion with her fun-filled approach to style. “When I created my look, I focused on mixing funky and chic pieces. Glitter leggings can easily be a fashion disaster but pairing it back to the classic, cream coat keeps it toned down while making a statement.
