What To Wear Blogger Edition: STLFW Kickoff Party At St. Louis Public Radio
This season’s round of Saint Louis Fashion Week events are nearly upon us! The official STLFW Kickoff Party takes place this Thursday, March 27 at 6pm at St. Louis Public Radio and will feature several unique events that will highlight St. Louis’ place in the world of fashion.
But first, what to wear? Set your spring ablaze with these ripe looks from a few local fashion bloggers who have pulled together fashion-savvy inspiration to ensure you arrive in style.
Psyche Southwell of Economy Of Style pairs stripes and python like a pro. Her tip: “Top the best-dressed list at the party by adding a little worldly flavor to your style. An exotic python skirt and statement jewelry with ornate tribal details take your look from local to global.”
Boho masters Emily Iovaldi and Danica Friederich of Fox & Gypsy suggest a casual spring look with a mix of feminine florals and lace, juxtaposed with masculine elements like muscle tees and sport jackets. “We love to play around with femininity mixed with masculinity, and often we find ourselves in the men’s sections scouting out good pieces. Pairing this flowy muscle tee with the delicate lace shorts and varsity jacket, and of course adding a good pair of heels and a handbag creates a look that’s fun, casual and edgy.”
Cassandra Westfall has mastered edgy femininity, and her blog Style Cassentials, showcases her fab personal style. Her suggestion: “Incorporate the pastel and dark floral trends while maintaining an independent spirit. Girly pieces can be given an evening edge with cutouts and a leather peplum jacket.”
Carmen Boeser The Ruby Zipper utilizes flirty accents like no other. “When creating an outfit, I’m inspired by eclectic patterns, vivid colors and quirky accessories. I love the effortless, vintage charm of rompers. Paired with a clever lemon-shaped clutch and nude booties, the look strikes a balance between bold and palatable.”
Not one to forget about the gents, Sarah Stallmann, of both The Wicked Wallflower and ALIVE’s Style Notes, translates fresh street wear into an evening look for the fashion-forward man. “The preppy street-wear vibe makes for an excellent look that will seamlessly transition from day to night. Don’t skimp on quality accessories with fine details like watches, wallets and hats of all colors and prints.”
