What to Do in St. Louis This Weekend

Love is in the air, and with it a slew of Valentine’s Day-themed pop-up shops and opportunities to sample local fare. This weekend, pick out something special at three artisan markets, partake in Asian staples and traditions to celebrate the Lunar New Year and get inspired at St. Louis-area museums and galleries.

Tryst Pop-Up Launch Party
A 10-day Valentine’s pop-up kicks off this week on Cherokee Street, featuring boutiques, vendors and artisans from the region. Head to the 2300 block on Thursday evening to get a first look at the handmade gifts for sale and enjoy wine, chocolate, cupcakes, art and more. Splurge on a VIP ticket to get complimentary beverages and sweets at the launch party and discounts for the entirety of Tryst’s run.

Pies and Pints Pop-Up
Lately, Earthbound Beer on Cherokee Street has been showering us with a variety of bakery pop-ups, and this Friday—as they would say on “The Great British Bake Off”—is Pie Week. Order from a selection of sweet and savory pies by the slice or indulge in a mini-flight of pie and beer pairings at the Pies and Pints Pop-Up.

Second Saturdays Gallery Walk
On the second Saturday of every month, the galleries of the Cherokee Arts District fling open their doors for an evening of art and mingling. Take in the current exhibits, then treat yourself to a brew or a cocktail at any one of the nearby eclectic watering holes.

All You Need Is Love Valentine’s Pop-Up
Wild Carrot event space in Shaw partners up with more than 30 women-owned small businesses for an afternoon pop-up shop. Shop local from vendors such as Mahnal, The Golden Fig and Locality Studio; get creative at Perennial’s DIY station; lunch on food from a local female chef and sip craft cocktails from the Wild Carrot bartenders.

Lunar New Year celebrations
Celebrate the Year of the Pig this Family Sunday at the Saint Louis Art Museum. See a lion dance performance and traditional Chinese folk dance at 1 p.m., attend craft demonstrations and create your own work inspired by the museum’s collection of Asian art.

When: Feb. 10 from 1-4 p.m.

Experience Asia through a “Feast of Good Fortune” at VUE inside the 612North Event Space on Laclede’s Landing Downtown. The Lunar New Year celebration features a sake sampling, make-your-own bibimbap bar, Korean fried chicken, assorted sushi, a dumpling station and more, all from the same company that operates Drunken Fish and Kimchi Guys. Purchase tickets online for $35 each.

Love Is Love Market
This Sunday, another Valentine’s-themed market offers the perfect excuse to head to 2nd Shift Brewing in South City for a cold one. Shop local makers during Pop-Up STL’s first market of 2019 and munch on savory grub provided by Guerrilla Street Food.
