6 Unconventional Holiday Decor Ideas
No matter what holiday you celebrate, here are a few unconventional decoration ideas to spark a little creativity and step outside of the box this season.
1/ A Minimalist Holiday Tree: Whether you live in a small space, are a self-proclaimed minimalist, or just want to take an easy way out when it comes to holiday decor, we love this simple take on the bulky, tons-of-work holiday tree.
2/ Bohemian Ornaments: Adding a touch of boho to your decor is really easy, thanks to this DIY from Soul Makes that uses a variety of positive energy-inducing fillings (like quartz and fresh lavender) to make adorable tree terrariums.
3/ A Simple Centerpiece: Visually stunning and customizable, this centerpiece would look fabulous in the middle of your table for during a holiday dinner. Add a bit of fresh garland and a simple clay platter as a base and it can light up a room. A row of mason jars would also make a great substitution as canisters for a more elongated table style.
4/ A Branch Menorah: Have your Menorah reflect your personal style by crafting it out of a branch, paint and nine candles. View Jodi Levine’s (crafts editor at Martha Stewart Living) picks for four other Menorahs you can create at home.
5/ The Holiday Neutral Table: Hosting a dinner party for friends with a variety of beliefs can be fun and inspirational. Using unexpected items (like the music sheets below) as place settings with simple cloth napkins, handmade holiday cards and fresh greenery, wood (or branches) and pine cones, craft a table that’s the perfect place to make some new memories.
6/ No Mantle/No Problem: For holiday stockings or a unique way to display eight days of Hanukkah gifts, try this great alternative to a mantle. Substitute stockings or gifts with pine cones, handmade ornaments, crystals or anything else that strikes your fancy by using ribbon or twine.
