Fashion’s in-the-know crowd gathered at Saks Fifth Avenue last night for an exclusive appearance by British shoe designer Sophia Webster, whose wonderfully whimsical styles have taken the fashion world by storm. Seen on fashion celebs including Sarah Jessica Parker, among others, Webster’s bold and artistic styles will now be seen on St. Louis’ most fashionable set—thanks to the event, which featured a live Q&A with the designer led by CAM’s Lisa Melandri, followed by an exclusive shoe signing and shopping opportunity.

During the live Q&A, Webster talked about everything from the artistic inspiration provided by photographer Mika Ninagawa to her recent obsession with butterflies (a core design element in her Spring 2014 collection) to her new kids line of shoes (she’s expecting her first child in August!).

The designer noted this sculptural, butterfly-inspired style as a top pick in her 2014 Spring Collection.

Webster pointed to the hand-drawn detail in this pair as a favorite element in her most recent designs.

Webster identified the wedge as the “it” shoe for Spring/Summer. We couldn’t agree more.

World Chess Hall of Fame Director Susan Barrett (shown right with ALIVE Executive Editor Jennifer Dulin Wiley) brought home the black butterfly heels pictured above, which, unprompted, Webster said were her favorites.

Fashion and arts influencer Susan Sherman (shown left with Saks Fifth Avenue Marketing Director Tania Beasley-Jolly) just couldn’t get enough of a pair of Webster’s mint green patent leather flats with pink trim. “I got them signed and they are packed and ready to travel to Cabo,” Sherman says.

CAM Director Lisa Melandri (shown right with Webster) picked up the designer’s Izzy leather-striped heel pumps.
