Runway Recap: 'Project Runway' Alumni Showcase Collections At The Fabulous Fox Theatre
Seven “Project Runway” stars came together on Saturday to show their latest collections at The Fabulous Fox Theatre on day three of Saint Louis’ ten-day Fashion Week.
The night kicked off with a presentation by Scarlett Collection, the brain-child of Mary Strauss, Marilyn Simpson and Heather Lampe. The collection is a throwback to the days of Hollywood glamour, rife with tap shorts, bold prints and feminine separates.
Michael Drummond opened the show with his always artful and skillfully done collection, The Exquisite Corpse. His handmade shoes and apparel are futuristic but manage to maintain wearability. Grab something from his one-of-a-kind collection at Ziezo in The Loop.
Anthony Ryan’s namesake collection, inspired by a world left undiscovered, had the perfect balance of structured fluidity. His subtle prints are the perfect backdrop for his interesting and sometimes futuristic shapes.
April Johnston’s line, Mangled Courtesan, consists of one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by her vision of the dark side. Her recent merge with designer Leslie Miller has added some lightness to her most recent collection.
Casanova’s sultry collection was a sea of billowy black pieces, the flowing hardware-embellished pieces practically floated down the runway. His signature “naked dress” stood out against the otherwise dark pieces.
Joshua McKinley brought fun to the runway; his unexpected fabrics and color choices kept attendees on the edge of their seats. His poppy accessories and use of mesh and metallics were expertly placed throughout his collection.
Viktor Luna’s bright beach and resort-wear had us ready to book a flight to the coast and soak up some rays in style. Short-shorts, swimwear and separates were paired with leather visors and vintage-inspired eyewear.
Laura Kathleen’s collection was the perfect combination of soft and structured. Her signature jumpsuits looked dangerously chic and her dramatic neoprene peplum was the ultimate show-stopper.
