Tonight’s the night! The much-anticipated Art:314 at the Contemporary Art Museum has arrived. Temperatures are dropping, festivities are commencing and we’re kicking off the Winter season with a silent auction and dance party. If you watched KSDK’s “Show Me St. Louis” this morning, you already know: Tonight, Friday November 14th, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis presents Art:314, an exciting event that features artists from many media.

Doors open at 8pm, beginning with a silent auction benefiting CAM’s Open Studios STL program and Front Room exhibition series. The auction features over 40 local artists who will receive 50% of all proceeds. Enjoy the open bar and dance the night away to tunes from DJ Needles. Tonight presents a truly unique opportunity to mingle with the arts community up close and personal. Nearly every featured artist is expected to attend.

Art:314 is very much a conversation betwixt the different aspects of contemporary art, highlighted by CAM’s collaboration with local bloggers.

Here are what some of STL’s buzziest independent publishers have to say about the event:

Joy and Cake
“This is the can’t-miss event of the year for young, art-loving people who like to have fun, dance & enjoy a cocktail or two…. or three or four… (read: YOU)!”

Vogue Rhythm
“Supporting your local art scene is valuable for so many reasons. Here are a few of the reasons why I think experiencing art is so important for all people:
• Art is a language everyone can understand. Racial, social and economic barriers are broken down to see a single artistic vision, enhancing cultural appreciation and awareness.
• Art is a creative outlet. Not just for the artist, but for the audience. It challenges you to see beyond the physical and observe the intention of something.
• Art is great because it’s everywhere. It comes in all forms. Everything from painting and sculpture to food and music is considered art. The list of mediums in which art is created is endless.”

The Style Crusader
“I was over at the museum yesterday to get a sneak peek at all the work that is up for grabs. I’ve already made a list of all the pieces I want to get my hands on for my new house. If you’re in the St Louis area make sure to come down to Art:314. We can talk home decorating tips and IKEA must-haves.”
