This Week's Dish: STL on 'Bizarre Foods America', Griffin Delivery Evolves, Craft Spirits & Cocktail Week Around The Corner

In Food

Sunday, Sept. 1: Griffin Delivery—the 3-year-old, bicycle-based food delivery business serving Downtown and South Grand—was recently sold to San Antonio-based The Bike Waiter and officially changed its name on Sunday. Griffin’s founder, Andy Heaslet, has noted an increase in business since new owners Shane Broussard and Heather Monroe took over dispatch and social media efforts two weeks ago.

Other notable changes being implemented include increased restaurant options, lower service fees and expanded delivery hours and locations—newly added areas include Midtown, the Central West End, Lafayette Square, Soulard and the Hill. Diners can still order online at griffindelivery.com.

Monday, Sept. 2: Tonight the Travel Channel will re-air the St. Louis episode of “Bizarre Foods America with Andrew Zimmern”. If you missed the original airing, you can tune in tonight at 7pm to see Zimmern wolf down the snoots at Smoki O’s, pig heart pastrami at Farmhaus and STL-style pizza and a brain sandwich at Schottzie’s Bar and Grill.

Andrey Ivanov, Advanced Sommelier and beverage director at Elaia and Olio, was named a Best New Sommelier of 2013 by Wine & Spirits Magazine. The honor is bestowed upon eight U.S. sommeliers with less than four years’ experience as lead wine buyers who are working toward the Master Sommelier designation. Be sure to check out Ivanov’s profile in the magazine.
