The last of the L’Ecole Culinaire and Schlafly beer dinners is this Thursday, Aug. 28. The five-course dinner includes corn and lobster fritters, roasted sweet pepper stuffed with goat cheese and pine nuts with a currant and bacon dressing, grilled salmon with brussels and potato hash, beef and Boursin and baked peach with vanilla ice cream. This summer, MOFU Tofu and Sump Coffee teamed up for a series of ramen pop-ups on the last Saturdays of each month. The last of the popular events will be held this Saturday, Aug. 30 from 4to around 7:30pm. The menu hasn’t been released yet, but past dishes have included MOFU Mazeman (chicken-fried MOFU, sesame, dashi, radish, harissa, egg) and Chilled Summer Shio Ramen (silken mofu, subtle broth, gyoza, bodacious sweet corn, beefsteak tomato, yuzu). As previously reported by ALIVE, breakfast and lunch concept White Box Eatery opened just last week in Clayton. In addition to their eclectic menu full of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, breakfast bowls, salads and soups, the restaurant will also feature an “out of the box” special from a featured chef. Each month, they’ll invite a notable local chef to create a new menu offering. Hacienda Mexican Restaurant is expanding its tequila offerings and completely redesigning its bar interior within the next month. They’re adding an expanded selection of premium tequilas, a seasonal drink menu and its first-ever tequila flight to transform the Rock Hill Tex-mex spot into a south-of-the-border margarita and tequila bar. The bar will have a new modern rustic-inspired design and offer mezcals and an original Mezcal Mule made with Legendario Domingo, a mezcal line owned by the restaurant’s founding family.
