This Week's Dish: Learn Dough Basics With Pizzeoli's Scott Sandler

May 10: Simone Faure is still going strong on Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship. Last night the La Patisserie Chouquette chef took the top honor of the week for her savory eclairs and layered tropical yogurt. Earlier on in the episode Faure’s confidence was a shaken when judge Duff Goldman called out the technical errors in her fondant work.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports that the popular fast-casual calzone spot, Sauce on the Side, will be changing its Downtown address this summer. Their new space at the Tower at the Old Post Office Plaza, a few blocks away from where they are now, will give the chefs more kitchen space and a larger outdoor seating area. The move is expected to be completed by mid-June, and the original location will be open until then, though there will be a few days of closure close to the move date. 903 Pine St., Downtown, 314.241.5667

May 21: Head to South Grand on Thursday, May 21 from 5-10pm for the seventh annual International Dine Around, featuring food from Guerrilla Street Food, Mangia Italiano, Cafe Natasha and more. With an offering of foods from more than 13 countries within 6 blocks, diners can truly experience St. Louis’ most diverse cuisine scene. May 31: If you’re in the mood to learn just what makes Pizzeoli’s pizzas so good, the owner is willing to give you some inside tips. Scott Sandler is hosting an artisan pizza and bread class on Sunday, May 31 from 9am-12pm through Dabble. Topics will include the dough-making process, how to stretch pizza dough, backing techniques, equipment and more. Tickets are $45 and cover the cost of all materials needed for the class.
