This Thursday, May 12, celebrate Kitchen Kulture’ last pop-up lunch at Sump Coffee before the big move to the former Pint Size Bakery spot. You can enjoy the local, sustainable fare of khao soi chicken curry over egg noodles with fresh herbs and toasted chili oil to top it off. Or go for the cold ramen bowl with marinated MOFU, slow cooked egg, veggies and ramp-ginger sauce. Save room for the new ice cream flavor. Expect to see Kounter Kulture’s, the brick-and-mortar store, grand opening this month. 3700 S. Jefferson Ave., South City

The team behind Hacienda Mexican Restaurant is bringing a new fast-casual Mexican concept to Clayton. Set to open in July, Mayana Mexican Kitchen—Nahuatl (Aztec) language meaning hunger or “to be hungry—customers will create their own entrees from hand-butchered meats, vegetables, beans, rice, cheese and scratch-made salsas or guacamole. The goal of the fast-paced setting will be to get your meal ready in three minutes’ time, which will make for a great lunch break option during your busy work week. 7810 Forsyth Blvd., Clayton

Another fast-casual pizza joint has joined the St. Louis ranks. MOD Pizza, a Seattle-based company, launched an STL spot in Kirkwood last week. Pizzas such as the COOPER (red sauce, basil, ricotta, mozzarella, mild sausage, roasted asparagus, red onions, roasted red peppers) are prepared by hand before cooked in a quick three minutes or less in an 800-degree, gas-fired oven. More Missouri locations include the already opened Wentzville store and Cottleville store, with new locations coming soon to Ellisville and St. Charles.
