This Week's Dish: Fight AIDS by Dining Out for Life, Celebrate Piccione Pastry's Birthday
In case you missed it, Pastaria is getting another home—in Nashville. Chef-owner Gerard Craft (Niche, Brasserie by Niche, Pastaria, Taste by Niche and Porano Pasta) announced last week that Mathew Rice will be the executive pastry chef for the new location arriving this summer. Rice is an accomplished pastry chef whose desserts once appeared at Craft’s first restaurant Niche in 2005. Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Rice is returning to the South to create Pastaria Nashville’s pastry program, which he says will be ‘Southern’ Italian. 8 C1TY Blvd., Nashville, Tenn.
We already noted the spring flavors in the cocktail menu at Retreat Gatropub, and the new spring dinner menu is also now live. Take your pick of new items like the smoked-trout pasta—made with linguini by Cherokee Street’s Midwest Pasta Co.—heirloom tomatoes and crispy tomatoes. These dining spots will be donating at least 25 percent of your check to help Saint Louis Effort for AIDS provide education on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and comprehensive support services for those affected by the disease.

May 19: Mark your calendars for the 8th International Dine Around Taste of South Grand.
