This Week's Dish: Clayton Restaurant Week Diners Raise $14K For Operation Food Search

This year’s Clayton Restaurant Week diners gave back while dining at the 19 restaurants that participated in the annual promotion by contributing more than $14,000 to Operation Food Search in “extra helping” donations. The Synergy Productions event collaboration, started in 2012, offers diners a three-course prix-fixe meal for $25 at the participating eateries. Remy’s Kitchen and Wine Bar and The Crossing were among the highest donating spots with more than $5,700 and $4,700 each. At the end of the meal, diners are encouraged to contribute $5 or more to the cause. More than $47,000 has been raised to date from the Clayton Restaurant Week promotion to benefit Operation Food Search, the largest distributor of free food in the bi-state region.

St. Louis foodies can now experience the Casino Queen’s Prime Steakhouse in its new element. The freshly remodeled restaurant boasts an enriched ambiance and menu. Guests can indulge in the vast selection of classic items including Prime’s staple features such as the steaks, prime rib and seafood. The new features—from the kitchen of executive chef Ken Weicker and recently appointed assistant executive chef Ray Wiley—includes dishes like blackened crab cakes and lobster cannelloni. Through Feb. 10: Skip the cards and candy this year and consider sending your sweetheart some #DonutMail. With the help of greetabl, Strange Donuts is offering to send two handcrafted rose water red velvet dones to that someone special for $10. This truly is a gift of love, as all proceeds will go to Strange Cares, the Strange crew’s newest charity benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girls On The Run, and The Children’s Heart Foundation. Feb. 9-14: Bixby’s is offering a special three-course prix-fixe Sweethearts Lunch this week. From 11am-2pm, guests can reserve a time to spend with a loved one while enjoying the sweeping views of Forest Park from the second floor of the Missouri History Museum. The cost is $16 per person or $20 per person with a glass of house wine. Choices for the three courses include dishes like smoked salmon flatbread for two; mushroom, leek and chicken crepes with lemon beurre blanc and seasonal vegetables; and braised short-rib and parmesan gnocchi with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula and demi-cream sauce. Feb. 14: Need a place to celebrate Mardi Gras this weekend? Join Mission Taco Joint Soulard for its first VIP Mardi Gras Extravaganza. Start the morning off with a breakfast buffet complete with mimosas and bloody Marys before the parade, then head back for a taco buffet and nacho bar after the parade, unlimited draft pours from 12 taps, the soon-to-be famous Mardi-Rita and a selection of house spirits and mixers.
