May 7: On Thursday, head out to University City for a chance to taste up to 40 of the city’s restaurants in one night. Taste of U. City kicks off at 5pm with raffles, door prizes and live entertainment, and of course, the opportunity to sample the food of the “neighborhood to the world.” Adult tickets are $20; tickets for kids 5-12 are $10 and for children under 4, entry is free. May 8: This Friday, the Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kirkwood Theatre Guild will team up to offer an evening of dining and entertainment to anyone wanting to enjoy Kirkwood. The evening starts at 5pm with appetizers and drinks at OA Gallery. The excursion then moves to Frontenac bank for salad and the main course, followed by the finale: dessert and a showing of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” at Robert G. Reim Theatre. All attendees are entered to win a number of truly impressive prizes, including seven pieces of original artwork from OA Gallery and one year of massages from Sanctuary Massage.  Tickets are $65 per person or $120 per couple. June 5: Strange Donuts revealed their plans for this year’s celebration of National Donut Day, or Strange Donut Day, as they call it. From 6-10pm on June 5 at Kaldi’s roasting plant enjoy doughnuts from Strange Donuts, Union Square Donuts (Boston) and District Donuts (New Orleans). Additional food will be available from Mission Taco Joint and Sugarfire Smokehouse as well as beers from 4 Hands Brewing Co. The evening’s entertainment includes an acoustic performance from Story of the Year plus DJ sets by Billy Brown and Drace. Capitalist Pig in Soulard has added brunch to its lineup. On Sundays from 11am-3pm, the barbecue spot in Mad Art Gallery will offer up some twists on the breakfast classics, like eggs Benedict served over cornbread, with red chile hollandaise, poached eggs and a choice of ham or pulled pork cochon-du-lait. Every Friday in May, things are heating up over at the Anheuser-Busch Biergarten. From 3:30-7:30pm the Biergarten welcomes three honorary Biergarten chefs to take over their outdoor grill to craft three unique burgers in pursuit of the perfect one. Guests will be able to sample the trio of sliders each week and cast a vote for their favorite. Winners will be announced by 7:45pm. 1200 Lynch St., Soulard, 314.577.3559
