This Week’s Dish: Big Name Chefs Are Coming To Town
Kevin Nashan and his crew at the recently opened Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. will play host to James Beard Award-winning chef Sean Brock on Saturday, Oct. 25. Brock will be promoting his new cookbook, “Heritage,” which focuses on the Southern recipes from the flavors of his Appalachian childhood to the dishes he’s developed at his two Charleston restaurants—Husk and McCrady’s. Signed copies will be available for all guests who will have the chance not only to chat with Brock, but also to taste dishes and cocktails from the book. Another James Beard Award winner, Michael Ruhlman, is rolling into town at The Restaurant at The Cheshire on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The esteemed writer and culinarian will join executive chef Rex Hale in the kitchen for a five-course dinner inspired by Ruhlman’s latest cookbook, “How to Roast.” The evening will be begin at 5:30pm with drinks and hors d’oeuvres during a chef meet and greet. Dinner will begin at 6:30pm with each course being introduced and explained by the chefs. Evening highlights will include cooking demonstrations, book signings and a Q&A session led by Sauce Magazine. There will be lots to celebrate at Tree House Restaurant on Friday, Oct. 24 with the debut of a new upstairs bar and lounge and also the first “Taps and Tapas” late night event. Beginning at 8pm, guests will be welcomed up to the new Tree House space where there will be a special tapping of Tallgrass Brewing Company’s Zombie Monkie, which was brewed with cinnamon and cocoa nibs. Food options will include an international lineup of tapas ranging from chorizo tacos with mole to steamed bao dumplings. Eleven Eleven Mississippi is gearing up for their golden birthday on Tuesday Nov. 11, when the Lafayette Square restaurant turns 11 years old. The celebration begins at lunch where a special two-course menu will be offered for $11.11. The fun will continue at dinner when diners can enjoy a three-course Tuscan menu for $25. Election Day martinis and select bottles of wine will also be available for $11.11.
