“With The Mind: Photographs by Anne Deniau”—This Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 6pm-8pm the Philip Slein Gallery welcomes Parisian photographer Anne Deniau. Deniau was a close friend and confidant of the late fashion designer and artist, Alexander McQueen. For 13 years she was the only photographer granted access to the designer’s studio and backstage of his runway shows. The exhibit stems from Deniau’s recently published book, “Love Looks Not With The Eyes” which consists of over 400 stunning photographs of McQueen and his work. FGI St. Louis Presents Thought Leadership Panel: Branding Tools For Creating Buzz!—This Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6pm FGI St. Louis presents unique dialog between three branding strategists who will explore today’s cool new brands and share their top-tier tactics for growing your business. Panelists include: Colleen O’Neill, General Manager of Taubman Prestige Outlets; Lindsay Pattan, Marketing Manager and Digital Strategist at ALIVE Magazine and Eric Thoelke, President and Creative Director at TOKY. Byrd Moved To A New Nest Grand Opening Party—Byrd Designer Consignment Boutique is proud to announce the opening of their new location in the Colonial Marketplace at Ladue Road and I-170. This Thursday, Oct. 17 from 6pm-8pm owner Emily Elbert invites shoppers and fashion-lovers alike to stop by and experience the new store location and design. The evening will include shopping discounts, door prizes and a Chanel wallet raffle to benefit the Spirit of St. Louis Women’s Fund. Craftoberfest—This Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5pm-10pm over 20 local artists, crafters and purveyors of vintage will come together for St. Louis’ first lantern-lit outdoor night market featuring local beer, live music and some of the best handmade and vintage our fair city has to offer. Vendors include; fried doughnuts by Strange Donuts, homemade teas by the ReTrailer, DIY terrariums by Flowers and Weeds, Vintage Trailer by Parsimonia {Secondhand With Style} and live music by Beth Bombara. The event will be held at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company located at 3229 Washington Avenue.

Queen’s Gala at Saks Fifth Avenue—This Friday, Oct. 18 Saks Fifth Avenue has teamed up with the World Chess Hall of Fame to celebrate the highly anticipated debut of the “Queen Within: Adorned Archetypes, Fashion and Chess.” Over 300 guests will enjoy cocktails in the Contemporary department then head upstairs for an elegant dinner and auction which will include rare pieces by Charlie Le Mindu and Alexander McQueen. Special guests include “Dukes of Melrose” star Cameron Silver, photographer Anne Deniau and FIT Director Valerie Steele amongst many others. Sadly this event is already sold out, so hopefully you planned ahead and have a seat with your name on it. Cocktail hour starts at 7pm and dinner begins at 8:30pm.

A Queen Within: Adorned Archetypes, Fashion—After much anticipation, the nationally recognized and highly regarded Queen Within exhibit finally opens to the public this Saturday, Oct. 19 at 10am in the World Chess Hall of Fame. The unique fashion exhibition dedicated to drawing women and girls to the game of chess by exploring the relationships between power, risk-taking and the Queen’s evolving roles in the game and society. The interactive exhibit includes work from world renowned designers such as Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Viktor & Rolf, Maison Martin Margiela and many more. The exhibit will run through April 18, 2014.

Book Signing With Anne Deniau at Saks Fifth Avenue—This Saturday, Oct. 19 at 11am photographer Anne Deniau will appear at Saks Fifth Avenue for her first North American book signing of “Love Looks Not With The Eyes: Thirteen Years with Alexander McQueen.” Held on the store’s upper level, attendees will have the chance to meet Deniau and purchase her book while enjoying light bites and champagne. A selection of limited edition prints will be on display.

“Undressing The Queen” Panel Discussion at Steinberg Auditorium—This Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1pm panelists Valerie Steele, Director of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology; Cameron Silver, Fashion Historian and Founder of Decades Inc.; Sofia Hedman, Curator, A Queen Within and Anne Deniau, photographer and author, “Love Looks Not With The Eyes” come together with moderator Deborah Roberts of ABC News to explore the archetypes of the queen in unpredictable fashion.
