This Week In Fashion: Devil City Moves Online and RAW St. Louis Presents Spectrum
It’s that time of year again—RAW St. Louis presents their next fashion and artist showcase this Thursday, April 17 at 8pm. RAW St. Louis presents SPECTRUM will feature several fashion designers, hair and makeup pros, photographers and visual art from a slew of area indie artisans in an exciting multi-media experience. Live music will be performed by 1917 Soundtrack, The Driftaways and Nite Owl. Guests can purchase tickets through the RAW St. Louis website or at the door. 2619 Washington Ave.
Easter Sunday, April 20 marks the one-year anniversary of fashion blogger, Sarah Stallmann‘s seasonal sale series, Wicked Pop-Up Shop, a well-curated thrift market that features new, gently used and vintage goods including men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, antiques, home goods and novelty items. The event will take place at Cherokee Street’s top underground arts venue, Blank Space, and will feature two floors of merchandise from local boutiques, influencers and artists including Swedlife, Bleed Vintage, Traces of Truth and more. - Highly acclaimed fashion shoe brand Luichiny opened their newest flagship retail store in Florence, Italy last week. Located in the historic center of Florence near the Pi Piazza del Republica, the new 800-square-foot store will feature the entire collection of Luichiny footwear in a classic and relaxed atmosphere. “The setting, in one of Florence’s oldest historical buildings, features murals throughout the walls and ceilings and our Luichiny shoes will look like jewels,” said Demirbilek Yigit, the store’s proprietor. Luichiny shoes are produced by Demand Shoes, LLC., a St. Louis-based footwear company that also develops Bronx and Diba in Earth City, Mo.
- St. Louis fashion designer Shan Keith narrowly lost the winning spot on the first, and possibly only season of Project Runway spinoff, “Under The Gunn“. Keith was a fan favorite, scoring a top four spot during the season finale, but ultimately, Cuban designer Oscar Lopez took the prize.
Retro Loop boutique Devil City has announced that they are moving online and will be closing the doors to their brick and mortar storefront on the Delmar Loop at the end of the week. Due to the success and interest surrounding their three in-house brands and growing web presence, owners Brad and Deborah Fink have decided not to renew their lease and focus on their wholesale development, Devil City online and various pop-up shops around St. Louis and surrounding areas. The following statement was released earlier last week on the brand’s Facebook page: “Don’t WORRY! We are not going away! Our House Brands have been a BIG HIT and we will continue to produce our lines.”
STLFW has released the list of participating stores that will showcase their newest spring-to-fall collections at Spring Into Fashion at The Saint Louis Galleria. Featured retail locations include Anthropologie, Banana Republic, bebe, Fossil, Tommy Bahama, True Religion and White House Black Market, with partnerships from Francesca’s and Sperry Top-Sider. A cocktail reception begins at 6pm with the runway show beginning at 7pm. All proceeds from ticket sales at this event will benefit charity partner Friends of Wings, a non-profit organization that provides clinical, emotional, spiritual, social and practical support and services to children and teens who have life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.
