Brown Shoe Presents: Project Design, STLFW’s Emerging Designer Contest—This Wednesday, Oct. 2 marks the seventh season of Project Design!, STLFW’s emerging designer contest. Competing designers stand a chance to win $30,000 in resources to help further his/her career. The event will be held at Windows On Washington with cocktails beginning at 7pm and runway show and contest kicks off at 8pm. Industry Night—Thursday, Oct. 3 marks one of STLFW’s most anticipated shows of the fall season. New York-based fashion blogger Keiko Lynn hosts this evening where national designers, Jennifer Chun, Eva Franco and Samantha Pleet join local designers, Wai Ming and Laura Kathleen on the runway for a not-to-be-missed show. Earlier in the evening, local emerging designers will present to a room of national industry heavy-weights. The event will be held at Windows On Washington; cocktails and presentations begin at 7:30pm and runway show kicks off at 8:30pm. Neiman Marcus CUSP Event—Join STLFW at Neiman Marcus this Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2pm for light bites as well as a presentation featuring exclusive on-trend designers from Neiman Marcus’ Cusp department. One hundred percent of the event’s proceeds goes to COCA, a non-profit community arts center with a mission to enrich lives and build community through the arts. Saks Fifth Avenue Brunch—Join STLFW for a very special brunch at Saks Fifth Avenue this Saturday, Oct. 5. Sip on mimosas while perusing the new featured Atrium designers the luxury department store brought in this season. Designer Tess Giberson will be presenting her latest collection as well as bringing some additional items for her exclusive trunk show following the brunch. Fashion’s Day Out—This Saturday, Oct. 5 STLFW has joined forces with 11 of the city’s top stores and boutiques for an official day of shopping and trunk shows. Participating stores will offer complimentary champagne, celebrity guests and top-notch contemporary designers. Trunk shows include Laura Kathleen at Ivy Hill, Eva Franco at Femme, Jennifer Chun at 10Denza, Wai Ming at Ivy Hill Ladue, Launching Lafayette 148 at Mister Guy, Samantha Pleet at Vie, Rungolee at Lusso, Free People at Blush and Henry & Belle at The Clover. Fashion’s Day Out is not to be missed.

“Once Upon A Runway” Fashion Show Event and Masquerade—This Saturday, Oct. 5 “Once Upon A Runway” will tell a re-imagined story just for the runway. Come dressed in your best un-fairytale masquerade attire and enjoy an afternoon of fun for everyone. Kids and teens from South Broadway Arts Project’s Fashion Project will grace the runway and Masquerade Ball in their own fashion design creations inspired by classic fairytales, deconstructed. All proceeds raised from this fashion show event will fund SBAP’s affordable and free programming throughout the next year. The show will be held at 2pm at the Koken Art Factory located at 2500 Ohio Avenue.

Glamour: Costumes and Images From The Collection Of Mary Strauss—Enjoy a glimpse into the magical world of film and theatre throughout the decades—through captivating dresses and artifacts that reflect a larger-than-life magical world. The exhibit, which will include costumes worn by Norma Shearer, Elizabeth Taylor and Susan Hayword, opens this Friday, Oct. 4 with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres in Grand Center from 5pm-7pm. The exhibit will run through December 28 and is an absolute must-see for all fashion and art-lovers.

Word On The Street

  • Breeze Blow Dry Bar has officially launched their Treatment and Makeup Bars inside the salon. Customers can choose from a laundry list of relaxing and beautifying treatments as well as receive anything from a makeup touch-up to a full face makeover.
