For children at The Wilson School, starting at age 3 through sixth grade, each day brings a world of opportunity. Two full-time teachers in each classroom take a nurturing approach to an academically accelerated program. With innovative and personalized instruction, students gain the confidence and academic foundation they need for a lifetime of success.

Wilson prides itself on its small class size, high-tech facilities and classic and innovative teaching methods. Students see subject-area specialists for languages, art, music and PE and for all subjects in the upper grades. Teachers take a collaborative approach and incorporate project-based learning opportunities in and outside the classroom. For example, fourth grade students studying the Vikings in social studies also incorporate their knowledge into coding virtual worlds and visual art projects. Students studying the periodic table of elements in science will create a super-hero character, author a script and shoot a video based on the properties of their element. Wilson’s coding curriculum begins in second grade and adds an engaging problem-solving component to the school’s overall program.

Another growing area of interest for students and faculty alike are the school’s various academically oriented clubs. Wilson’s Destination Imagination (DI) club, which has made it to the global competition two of the last three years, equips students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Every year, DI offers up challenges in STEM, improv, visual arts, service learning and early learning. The students have to work together to learn and experience the creative process through imagination and innovation. At Wilson, Destination Imagination Competition Teams are available to students in third through sixth grades.

The Wilson School offers students the opportunity to participate in a range of after-school activities including athletics, fine and performing arts, technology and language arts classes. The after-school courses are taught by Wilson faculty members and professional instructors to students in all grade levels.

Be sure to check out The Wilson School’s Open House for Prospective Families on Oct. 22 from 9-10:30am or check them out online for more information.
