Worried about all the sweat that comes with a summer workout? Try Under Armour’s HeatGear. Bianca swears that no matter how hot it is outside, this activewear will wipe away sweat and keep you cool, dry and light.
Go to yoga class in style with a mat from Sophie Leininger’s Magic Carpet Yoga Mats. Leininger hand paints each design, then prints them full-size onto the mat so you’ll never have to stare at a boring mat again while doing downward dog!
Bianca loves a good cardigan to wrap up in after a yoga class. She suggests the Aspen Cardigan from Sprigs. Light, stylish and eco-friendly, this cardigan is even cute enough to be worn for a night out on the town!
If the only way you can really get into the flow of your yoga routine is with music, the Gaiam Audio Yoga Mat is definitely worth a try. With built-in speakers, all you need is your iPod or MP3 player to start listening to your favorite tunes or instructional workouts.
Sometimes rearranging your schedule around your group workout can be a hassle. Instead, let your workout fit into anytime of your day with the Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp DVD. Bianca says you probably won’t be able to get through the entire workout your first time, but that only means you know you’ll get your money’s worth!
With all the options of weight-loss apps available today, it’s hard to know which ones are worth a download. Bianca Jade recommends the Lose It! app. You can take a picture of what you’re about to eat, and Lose It! will tell you how many calories/grams of fat it has. Perfect for the Calorie Counter and Workaholic, who can’t afford to waste time on research for the sake of being good.
If you’re not afraid to be challenged in your workout, try Fit By Definition’s Fit Camp. Kristin Ruzicka leads the workout on Art Hill, and Bianca Jade swears she has never had a harder workout in St. Louis—and her legs have never looked better.
Bianca’s favorite place for yoga in St. Louis, hands down, is YogaSource. The Power Yoga is both toning and restorative, with heated studios to help warm up your muscles. Bianca also loves YogaSource’s encouragement of the mind-body connection, which shows that yoga is more than a workout; it’s meditation.
There is no doubt that you are going to sweat at bootcamp, so make sure you are protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Bianca Jade recommends applying sunblock all over your body and wearing activewear with built-in SPF. For sunblock, Bianca goes with DNA Damage Control Active with an SPF of 43. Bianca then chooses to use C9 by Champion activewear. Whichever products you choose, skip the stuff at the beauty counter. While its fancy packaging and light feel is appealing, it won’t protect you when you’re out roasting in the sun.
If there’s one thing you should remember when walking into your first bootcamp, it’s to always stretch beforehand to warm up your muscles. Since this workout is all about high intensity and quick multi-joint movements, there is an increased chance of getting hurt. Stretch before and after, keeping the warmup stretch on the light side.
