The Fashion: What To Expect On The Award Show Red Carpet

It’s that time of year again. While those of us in the Midwest are buried in snow up to our knees, Hollywood is prepping for their biggest time of the year—award show season. Amidst the glitz and the glamor lies the coveted role of “Best Dressed” and the equally entertaining (but not so coveted) “Worst Dressed,” each of which are analyzed by fashion bloggers and publications all over the globe.

We have decided to join the forum, making a few predictions of what we hope to see on (and off) the red carpet.

Red carpet favorite Zac Posen did glam justice with this stunning midnight blue gown. We would love to see this figure-flattering piece on a silver screen maven like Kate Winslet (“Labor Day”) or Robin Wright (“House of Cards”).

Ralph Lauren always represents classic/cool. This cool grey number would look fabulous on a young starlet like Jennifer Lawrence (“American Hustle”), especially with a bold purple lip color.

I personally would love to see something unexpected at the shows this year. If the beautiful, trendsetting actress Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years A Slave”) or seasoned fashion icon, Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine”) walked the red carpet in this Emanuel Ungaro creation, it would be over. Instant Best Dressed.

For the men, here’s to giving us something new this year. This updated version of the classic suit would look amazing on nominee Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyer’s Club”). Adding a bow tie and his signature rock ‘n’ roll coif would keep him at the top of the Best Dressed list.

Christopher Kane’s fashion-forward menswear of pre-Fall 2014 left us drooling. This midnight blue herringbone suit would look excellent on a handsome actor like John Hamm (“Mad Men”) or Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”).

With endless possibilities, we are looking forward to see what the stars (and their stylists) come up with. Stay tuned to Style Notes for the official runway recaps of the Golden Globes (Jan. 12), the SAG Awards (Jan. 18), the BAFTA’s (Feb. 16) and the Academy Awards (Mar. 2).
