Our local craft brew scene is growing everyday. The latest brewery to announce a major expansion is O’Fallon Brewery. Owner Jim Gorczyca has announced plans to move to a new facility that could accommodate increased brewing capabilities, move its packaging operations in-house (currently being handled by a brewery in Wisconsin), incorporate an on-site tasting room and retail store and support an increase in staff from its current 10 employees to as many as 30 or 40. O’Fallon Brewery hopes to secure this new location by the end of the year and open in early 2015.

Head to the Missouri Botanical Gardens on Friday, Oct. 18 for their Fall Fest-Of-Ale, where 17 local microbreweries will show off their goods. Budweiser’s Project 12 is back with three new beers, all featuring Budweiser’s signature yeast and named for the ZIP code where the beer was brewed. These new releases will be available in a sampler pack beginning Oct. 28. Batch 94534 (Fairfield, Calif.) is brewed with a unique blend of North Pacific hop varieties, including Cascade and Palisade. This bold, hoppy lager has a 5.5 percent ABV and offers a distinct taste of the American Northwest. Batch 23185 (Williamsburg, Va.) is aged on a bed of bourbon barrel staves and vanilla beans. This light amber lager indulges the sweet side and features a 5.5 percent ABV. Batch 43229 (Columbus, Ohio) is brewed with chocolate and caramel malts for a rich auburn appearance and is finished on Beechwood chips for a crisp, clean taste. This deep amber lager has a 6 percent ABV.
