The Brand-New Kiin Essentially Thai Restaurant Opens in Downtown St. Louis

A new creation from the proprietors of Fork & Stix in The Loop, Kiin Essentially Thai has just opened in Downtown St. Louis, comfortably moving in to the city’s popular MX Building. Owners Kobe Tanya and Phatcharin Wanna saw an opportunity to deepen residents’ access to cultural Thai favorites, drawing more from lesser-known styles of cuisine from the northern region of Thailand, instead of central influences like Bangkok.

Walking in to the refined yet casual space, the striking modern decor and sculpture aligns with the menu’s invitation to bring diners out of their respective comfort zones, combining classic favorite with new trends. You’ll still find recognizable favorites like pad Thai on the menu, but owners capitalize on the opportunity to showcase the depth and variety of Thai food—like the Khao Mun Gai, a poached ginger chicken and rice dish served with chicken broth and spicy soy ginger sauce, or the Red Curry, made with bamboo shoots, red peppers, Thai basil coconut milk and rice, with your choice of protein.

The dishes are all quite reasonably priced, ranging from $8 to $13—all the more reason to give this brand-new Downtown St. Louis restaurant a try.
