The 6th Annual Mannequins On The Loop Kicks Off This Weekend
Several events, including the 6th Annual Mannequins on the Loop, will be taking place in the Delmar Loop this Saturday, May 17, celebrating fashion, art and music in the area and beyond.
Mannequins on the Loop, the annual event that celebrates recycled and Earth-friendly fashion, kicks off this Saturday featuring several artists who have created one-of-a-kind garments that will remain on display in front of area businesses through June 8. Participants will compete for a $500 grand prize that will be awarded to the design with the best style and message, as awarded by yet-to-be-named judges.
Artists include Divinemoira Studio, a St. Louis-based hybrid gallery that will launch their collaborative manifestation of a media maiden, entitled Lady Delilah GoDiva on the corner of Delmar and Mehlville. The female form will be built on a traditional mannequin structure and will showcase the misrepresentation of women in the media being overcome by a current state of confidence and power. A full list of participating business and artists can be found on the Delmar Loop website. Various installation parties and events are also slated per unique store event.
