Sunshine Salutations: Five Outdoor Yoga Classes for All
During the glory days of summer there’s no better way to boost your vitamin D level than an outdoor yoga class.
Here are five top-notch classes around St. Louis that are budget-friendly, inclusive and great for beginners as well as long-time yogis and practitioners of all body types.
Yoga with Jamie in Downtown’s Citygarden
Jamie Austin offers a slow-paced flow class with a view of the Gateway Arch. In each of her summer classes at Citygarden, Austin guides students through foundational poses and breathing techniques, helping beginners and other practitioners improve their balance, flexibility and mindfulness. Austin also hosts a Friday walking group around Gateway Arch National Park, which departs at 12:15 p.m. sharp from the flagpole in Downtown‘s Luther Ely Smith Square.

When: Saturdays at 8 a.m.
Grand Basin Yoga in Forest Park
For 11 years, Dianna Lucas has been teaching this yoga class in front of Forest Park’s Grand Basin. With a focus on balancing muscle-building flow and restorative meditation, Lucas gauges students’ levels and needs before class and shapes the practice from there. Grand Basin Yoga is a great way to fit in a weekend workout before a visit to the Saint Louis Art Museum or Saint Louis Zoo.
