It’s the first official day of summer, so it’s time to plan your barbecues, festival outings and getaways—and your lazy days by the pool. Whether it’s an afternoon of sun worship, an outdoor fitness routine or a quick convenient dip, St. Louis’ neighborhood pools are just a few steps away.

Not sure which to hit? We’ve organized a list of the best public and private swimming spots around town. So layer on the sunscreen, pack up your summer reads and make your rounds.

The Lodge Des Peres

Kirkwood Recreation Station Aquatic Center

Neighborhood: Kirkwood

Status: Open to residents of Kirkwood and their guests
Cost: Daily passes vary from $4-7 for residents and non-residents; season passes vary from
$80-420+ for resident and non-resident individuals and families

The Lodge Des Peres

Neighborhood: Des Peres
Hours: Monday-Friday, 12 pm – 8 pm; Saturday, 11 am – 8 pm; Sunday, 11 am – 6 pm (outdoor pool)
Status: Open to anyone (including members of The Lodge and non-members)
Cost: $5-6 for individual residents and $20 for resident family; $7-8 for individual non-residents

Special Features: Slides, water park features and an indoor pool

Whitecliff Park Crestwood Aquatic Center
1 Detjen Drive
Neighborhood: Crestwood
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 12 pm – 8 pm; holidays, 12 pm – 6 pm
Status: Open to members (residents of Crestwood and family/friends) and their guests
Cost: $80-200+ for residents and their families (season pass); $150-400+ for non-residents and their families; $4-5 for resident daily pass; $6-8 for non-resident guest

Special Features: Located in Whitecliff Park near baseball and softball fields, slides and water park features

Carondelet Park Rec Complex/YMCA
930 Holly Hills Ave.
Neighborhood: Carondelet
Hours: Sunday-Saturday, 10 am – 8 pm; holiday, 10 am – 5 pm
Status: Open to members and their guests at all times and on weekdays to non-members
Cost: Included with membership to YMCA or $5-$25 otherwise

Maryland Heights Aquaport
11911 Dorsett Rd.
Neighborhood: Maryland Heights
Hours: Monday-Friday, 11 am – 7 pm; Saturday, 11 am – 9 pm; Sunday, 12 pm – 7 pm
Status: Open to Maryland Heights residents and non-residents (discount to residents)
Cost: Daily passes for residents and non-residents vary from $4-15; season passes for resident individuals and families vary from $60-140; season passes for non-resident individuals and families vary from $100-240

Kennedy Recreation Complex Swimming Pool
Neighborhood: South County St. Louis
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 12 pm – 6 pm; closed on holidays
Status: Open to public
Cost: $3-4 for daily passes; Season swim passes for individuals or families vary from $25-150+

Shaw Park Aquatic Center
111 South Brentwood
Neighborhood: Clayton
Hours: Monday-Friday, 12 pm – 8 pm; Saturday-Sunday and weekends, 10 am – 8 pm
Status: Open to residents of Clayton, those who work in Clayton or attend Clayton School District. Guests can accompany them.
Cost: $4-8

Special Features: Nearby Garden Café located in Shaw Park

Maplewood Family Aquatic Center

Neighborhood: Maplewood/Richmond Heights
Hours: Monday-Friday, 12 pm – 8 pm; Saturday-Sunday, 11 am – 8 pm
Status: Open to residents of Maplewood, Brentwood and Richmond Heights; open to residents of Rock Hill with a residency form; guests welcome with residents
Cost: $3-6 for daily passes; season passes for individuals and families vary from $60-345; free to all senior citizen residents

Riverchase Recreation Complex

Neighborhood: Fenton
Hours: Monday-Friday, 12 pm – 8 pm; Saturday, 11 am – 8 pm; Sunday, 11 am – 5:30 pm; holidays, 11 am – 5:30 pm
Status: Open to anyone (discount to Fenton residents and businesses)
Cost: Daily fees vary from $4-25 for resident and non-resident individuals and families; membership fees vary from $175-517 for resident and non-resident individuals and families

Special features: Slides and water park features, indoor pool with waterpark features as well

Sunset Hills Aquatic Facility
