Summer Camp Preview: The Top 4 Camps Every Kid Loves

Wading through the endless options of children’s summer camps may seem like a daunting task. Is it educational? Is it fun? We’ve done the work for you and teamed up with four of St. Louis’ summer camps that fit the bill. Read on for camps that focus on everything from sports to performing arts. There’s even a chance to howl with a wolf pack!

Stages

“Experience the Story” at STAGES Performing Arts Academy this summer. Located in its state-of-the-art, Kent Center for Theatre Arts in Chesterfield (Swingley Ridge and Chesterfield Parkway East), STAGES offers St. Louisans classes in the musical theater disciplines of voice, dance and drama.

Registration is now open for musical theater summer camps, June 8–Aug. 7. They offer an array of classes for boys and girls ages 3–18 all summer long. Classes include Day Camps and Summer Performance Workshops. Jewish

J Day Camps offer a wide variety of camps with focuses ranging from leadership to technology to traditional camp and more. Campers participate in many specialized activities including arts, sports, singing, nature and science with their camp groups. Love swimming? All campers swim every day at J Day Camps and have the option of receiving certified swim instruction. Both camp locations have multiple indoor and outdoor pools. J Day Camps are instilled with Jewish values in a way that appeals to people of all faiths, and campers of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome to spend the summer enjoying J Day Camps.

Through Gateway Center for Performing Arts summer camps are offered at two locations: Glendale in June and Tower Grove in July. Children ages kindergarten through fifth grade can look forward to a variety of musical theatre camps. Options include “Mini Minions,” “Super Heroes on Stage,” “Gateway to Broadway,” “Gateway’s Got Talent” and our personal favorite, “Disney Villains.”  Their innovative educational programming is designed around “The 3 E’s of GCPA:” exposure, education and expression. Adventures await you at the Endangered Wolf Center this summer. Campers will explore the wild world of wolves as they visit the amazing animals, experience nature hikes and fun games, make nature crafts, chat with a wolf keeper and more. The week wraps up with water day and an invitation for campers and their families to join us Thursday evening for a tour, s’mores and a trip down to howl with the wolves! This camp is sure to be one of the most unique camps in St. Louis.
