Suit Yourself!

 In Guide, Style

Three summer suit styles to try right now.

Not since the ’80s “power suit” era have so many designers been excited about sets. From the borderline-masculine pant suits at Chloé (in white) and Christopher Kane (in black) to a slew of new, feminine takes (Versace paired a box-shaped jacket with a matching tweed mini; Valentino’s twin pieces were sheer chiffon, printed with black orchids), two-pieces are undeniably a top trend for SS10. This season, stock up on lightweight, ladies-only suits in innovative shapes and fabrics. Wear one style to work, another on the weekend; wherever you go, you’ll have no choice but to look put-together. A no-fail outfit? Now that’s powerful.

Sassy
Traditional matchy-matchy pieces are less predictable in abbreviated cuts; try a vest and shorts, versus a jacket and pants.

Sexy
A suit is party-perfect when composed of a studded boyfriend blazer and denim of the same shade.

Feminine
When the jacket is voluminous, keep the slacks slim, and remember—color-coordinating is strictly optional.
