Start Bar To Bring Arcade Bar Concept to Downtown STL This Spring
Downtown will welcome a new bar to the neighborhood this season, but it’s not your standard establishment. Start Bar—from Consips restaurateurs Stephen Savage, Jared Ater, Nick Del Gaiso, and Lou Groff—will be a 5,000-square-foot arcade bar that also boasts 1,000 square feet of patio space.
In the space next to Wheelhouse Downtown, also owned by Consips, the owners say Start Bar will incorporate a mix of both modern and retro elements. Look for pinball, Skee-Ball and cabinet arcade games amid a blend of high art, ’90s pop culture and hip-hop references on the walls. “It’s a tribute to what made arcades great,” says Savage. “We envision it as a place where people can grab a drink with friends while they rediscover the fun of classic video games.”
The menu will feature 30 to 40 craft beers and handmade cocktails. The menu, spearheaded by Del Gaiso, will include twists on bar favorites—like handmade pizza, candy and other snacks.
“We’re excited to bring something new to St. Louis,” says Savage. “We can’t wait for people to see how different Start Bar really is.”
