St. Louisian Launches ModaVoche, A Blogger-Curated Retail Site
St. Louis native Tyler Mackie has launched the world’s first blogger-curated retail site, ModaVoche, aimed at helping fashion bloggers make a living from their passion for fashion. The site went live on July 12 and features weekly style challenges with a common fashion theme. Bloggers and fashionistas can upload their own looks that incorporate the style theme, tag all the clothes featured and compete side-by-side with other bloggers for the title of Top Look.
Mackie, a 29-year-old entrepreneur and Chaminade College Prep alumni, has taken his experience in fashion retail (at Saks Fifth Avenue and Brooks Brothers) to the web, creating a site that is both attractive and user-friendly. “With ModaVoche, I wanted to make a site where fashion bloggers could make a living doing what they do,” explains Mackie. “We give them a little inspiration, and they style looks from the coolest clothes and accessories they can find. They upload to the site, and we link everything and make it all shoppable. And all of sudden, you have a cadre of personal shoppers.”
The site is even monetized—all bloggers get cash for anything from their look that sells, with winners of the competitions receiving an even bigger cut of the funds. A combination of user votes and number of items sold decide who wins the competition.
ModaVoche is also a great resource for photographers, stylists, models, makeup artists, or anyone looking to break into the fashion industry find each other—not to mention anyone looking for good talent. Users can promote themselves with their ModaVoche profile, which they can edit from any mobile or web browser.
