St. Louis Proud: What We Love About Our City

Last week, St. Louis Civic Pride Foundation kicked off their “Take Pride in St. Louis” campaign. The effort, which encourages St. Louisans to be vocal about the greatness of their city, will involve some pretty big St. Louis celebrities. Look for print, radio and tv ads from Bob Costas, Phyllis Smith, Joe Buck, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Miss Robbie, Ozzie Smith and Isaac Bruce.

“When we first began reaching out to local celebrities to participate in the commercials, we were simply overwhelmed by their willingness to join the effort to assist the Take Pride in St. Louis campaign,” says Kathleen “Kitty” Ratcliffe, president of the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission. “They were all wonderful to work with and gracious in donating their time to the project that allows us to highlight many of the virtues of the region ranging from Sweetie Pies to Grand Center to the Butterfly House.”

As readers know from our June We Heart STL issue, we’re big fans of our city, so we jumped at the chance to share even more reasons—including some of your own—why St. Louis is our favorite place to shop, dine, play and live. Right before we say goodbye to the June issue, here’s another salute to you, STL!

“I love the local dining and shopping scenes we have here in St. Louis. The incredible independent restaurants and shops tucked into all of our amazing neighborhoods just add that much more character and identity to the place we all call home.”- Jennifer Dulin Wiley, Executive Editor

Falling in love with my city all over again..
So many urban farms! Please believe I’ll be leaving with fresh eggs ☺️☺️

“We love living near Tower Grove Park. It’s a fantastic space to walk our puppy Chewie and so close to a plethora of restaurants with food from all over the world. Their farmers market and park events really bring the community together. It’s refreshing so much diversity is packed into a tight knit area and that’s why we love St. Louis.”- Amanda Dampf, Art Director

“In just four short years, I’ve lived in three different St. Louis neighborhoods and I love the profound support that I have found within each community. St. Louis doesn’t just support local because we have to, we do it because we love to! And why wouldn’t we—we’ve got great people!”- Susie Jensen, Account Executive
