Squatter’s Café in the Grand Center Arts District

This breakfast-and-lunch cafe in the Grand Center Arts District uses hyper-local produce and ingredients to craft delicacies like the the butternut-squash sandwich, served with goat cheese and rice on an English muffin.

You’ll also find breakfast classics at Squatter’s Café like the brekkie biscuit, served with country gravy and candied bacon, as well as healthy options like the grain bowl, which consists of wheat berries, root vegetables, mushrooms and soy dressing. You’ll find the menu constantly changing, based on seasonal ingredients available.

Helmed by James Beard Award-nominated chef Rob Connoley, the evident knowledge and talent in each dish shines through the best ingredients and lack of frills. Connoley recently returned to his native St. Louis after spending years in Silver City, New Mexico, at his restaurant, The Curious Kumquat, earning the experience necessary to pull it off here in St. Louis. Connoley’s dishes don’t need excess to overcompensate for a palpable lack elsewhere, something you can experience if you choose to treat yourself and try them out.
