Despite chilly temps outside, spring arrived on the runway with a vengeance last night as Spring Saint Louis Fashion Week kicked off with Spring Into Fashion at the Saint Louis Galleria. Before the show, a cheerfully dressed crowd socialized at the Macy’s cocktail hour over Peroni brews as well as Pinnacle Vodka cocktails and Leinenkugel Summer Shandy. As guests found their seats in the Garden Court, the lights went down and the music pumped up, ushering in a dazzling runway show.

The show featured collections from the Saint Louis Galleria’s top shops, including Ann Taylor, Apricot Lane, Brooks Brothers, Cache, Dillard’s Stores, Francesca’s Closet, The Limited, Tommy Bahama and Sperry Top Sider. Prints and pastels strutted down the catwalk with bright pops of tangerine and aqua. Floral patterns, big and small, blossomed on shirts, skirts and pants. The runway was all about flow, with airy skirts and petite peplums bringing an air of sophistication to lighthearted spring styles.  Both maxi and mini dresses were welcomed in plain pastels or decorated with details. Neutrals were not lost in this season’s lineup, but elevated to a new level with striped patterns and fringed embellishments. Blue made a strong showing as well, taking over any and every article of clothing—whether in one solid shade or in an ombre effect.

All ticket proceeds for the evening benefited Friends of Wings, totaling nearly $800. There was also a raffle drawing in which one lucky guest won a $250 shopping spree at Sperry Top Sider after the show.

Be sure you don’t miss the action at the next two nights of Spring Saint Louis Fashion Week—tickets still on sale for tonight’s show at the door, and online for Saturday’s GLOW: Go Local.
