Crescent Coast brings beach-side fashion to STL.
THE NEWEST ADDITION to the St. Louis boutique scene has us ready to hit the waves. Inspired by fond memories of beachside vacations, owner Terry Warner opened Crescent Coast in February, determined to create a fun one-stop shop for customers of all ages.
As a mother of two boys, it was imperative for Warner to create a space that offered items for the whole family, so the boutique is stocked to the brim with fun-in-the-sun selections for men, women and teens. “I was finding all of these great products, but they weren’t available in St. Louis,” says Warner, “Or it was in a format that wasn’t designed for family shopping with everything all under one roof.”
The boutique features an affordable combination of beachy-cool and practical gear from more than 30 popular brands, as well as several lines exclusive to St. Louis. Calypso St. Barth, Salt Life and Strong Boalt rest seamlessly beside casual-wear staples like Sperry Top-Sider, Johnnie-O, Native Outfitters and Southern Tide. Accessory finds include Pura Vida bracelets from Costa Rica, Costa sunglasses, plus a variety of swimsuit cover-ups and handbags. The store even has a small selection of novelty items, ranging from wooden iPhone cases to surfboards and ukuleles.
Warner’s previous experience in the home sector has inspired her to create a fun and colorful oasis for shoppers to both peruse the wide variety of merchandise and relax in the comforts of a faux beachfront hideaway. Accents of driftwood and raw metal stand out on pale-blue walls lined with surf-friendly gear, shoes and illuminated cubbies that hold a selection of specialty apparel and basics. The fitting room area comes complete with a lounge and big-screen TVs—the perfect spot for a little mid-shopping break.
Despite the fact that St. Louis is coastally challenged, Warner believes that her selection and service will speak for itself, encouraging customers to take a break from the every day and make shopping a fun, family experience. “There’s something for everyone here,” says Warner. “The beach lifestyle isn’t limited to any particular time of life. It’s a state of mind.”
