Shop Talk: September 2010

The latest in shopping news around St. Louis.

ON CLOUD9
We’re loving STL’s newest accessory—Cloud9 watches. Launched in February, this local company makes slapbracelet-style watches that are part modern/minimalist, part utilitarian and entirely chic. What’s more, not only can you purchase these fabulous finds from local shops UMA, Splash, Prime Sole, SOKA Skateboards & Snowboards and I Am…, and online at Urban Outfitters, but later this year, you can find them in NYC’s Museum of Modern Art’s fall/holiday catalog. It’s about time! (cloud9watch.com)

WALK ALL OVER HIM

Already featuring an abundance of popular footwear brands—including Fergie, Carlos by Carlos Santana, Franco Sarto and Via Spiga—St. Louis based Brown Shoe recently announced its acquisition of Edelman Shoe, the company behind the sophisticated and contemporary Sam Edelman brand. St. Louisans who are not yet fans of such coveted styles as the edgy “Zoyla” boot (pictured) can familiarize themselves with Sam Edelman at Saint Louis Fashion Week; many of the line’s latest platforms, boots and more will be featured on the runway this season. A CENTURY IN THE MAKING
A longstanding St. Louis tradition, The Diamond Shop is currently celebrating 100 years as the area’s go-to resource for diamonds and jewelry of the highest quality. Under the Kohn name since 1947, inhouse jewelry designer Thom Kohn and his wife, Mona, are commemorating their family business’ milestone with a huge sale this month; everything in the store is 25 to 50 percent off!
