Shop, Eat and Drink at Warehouse MRKT in Traverse City

 In Food, Style

It may be freezing during the winter, but when spring and summer hit, Michigan cities like Traverse City have the last laugh: think stunning freshwater beaches with white sand along the shores of Lake Michigan. When we interviewed chef James Bloomfield of Alliance at Traverse City’s Warehouse MRKT last year, we knew we’d be back. The MRKT is located just a few blocks from Lake Michigan and plays home to several curated specialty shops.

Warehouse MRKT was given a second life after being renovated by Daniel and Meridith Falconer. Bloomfield cites the MRKT as a significant draw for why he chose to work with the Falconers at Alliance. “It’s really inspiring to be around other creatives,” he says, citing another tenant, BLK MRKT, a coffee shop with the “best coffee [he has] ever tried.” “They’re very detailed and passionate about what they do. We’re constantly talking about new products and drinks together,” he says. The renovated warehouse also houses the paint-your-own-pottery shop Handz On Art, a tech installation shop, a fitness studio and several craft artisan stores.
