Co-owners and local food stars Aaron Teitelbaum and Jeff Orbin have transformed Monarch into a Southern-inspired bistro and bar infused with the flair and flavor of the South. Monarch, an award-winning restaurant and wine bar, still offers the same dishes St. Louisans have come to know and love, but the restaurant now features a second Cajun menu.

Hailing from New Orleans, the food capital of the South, Executive Chef Josh Galliano trained extensively on site to master the flavors of the city before creating the new menu. All dishes on this menu are reasonably priced under $15. The entirely revamped restaurant, which includes a new kitchen, is decorated to reflect the two distinctly different menus—the bistro and outdoor seating area feature New Orleans-inspired décor that mirrors the Southern menu, while the original menu is served in an elegant eight-seat fine dining area. Adding to the ambiance, live musicians entertain guests with smooth jazz and blues tunes on either of the two stages six nights a week. The bar caters to sports fans as well; fans can enjoy the game on flat screen TVs while enjoying specialty cocktails from the New Orleans region.

In anticipation of the grand re-opening of Monarch, St. Louis’ top business executives, philanthropists and volunteers have collaborated to bring a taste of Southern hospitality to St. Louis on July 31. On the menu will be Crawfish etouffee, shrimp and grits and po’ boys alongside a raw bar. The event, which will also serve up smooth jazz music and cocktails, will preview the restaurants truly unique culinary concept. Beginning at 6pm, this exclusive peek of the restaurant will benefit a cause that particularly resonates with employees. All proceeds from the evening will support The National Children’s Cancer Society, as the lives of several staff members have been affected by childhood cancers. Reserve your spot now for this special evening, and as the saying goes, “Laissez les bon temps rouler!”

Tickets can be purchased for $75 by calling Trish Collins at 314.446.5227 or online at nationalchildrenscancersociety.org.
