Saint Louis Fashion Week Announces Caleres Fashion Entrepreneur Competition And Fall Fashion Calendar
Saint Louis Fashion Week has announced a new signature event and will be extending its 2016 season to support more than 10 weeks of St. Louis-area fashion events throughout the fall. The highly anticipated events calendar has been released on STLFW.com.
The highlight of the series will be the Caleres Fashion Entrepreneur Competition, a fashion-meets-“Shark-Tank”-style event on Nov. 10, where five St. Louis-based fashion makers will present their brands and vie for the competition win. A $10,000 grand prize will be awarded at this can’t-miss event, which features interactive fashion presentations, innovative designs inspired by Caleres shoes, video presentations and live pitches from the finalists. One second-place fashion design entrepreneur will take home $5,000 and fashion enthusiasts will help choose the People’s Choice winner in a public vote online in advance of the event.
The goal of the grant program is to provide funding, mentorship, education and professional development to fashion design entrepreneurs in St. Louis, in an effort to support and grow the fashion ecosystem and raise the visibility of the city as a destination for creative talent on a national level. A panel of distinguished industry professionals are on board to choose the winners, including: Ginger Imster, Executive Director at Arch Grants; Jason Hall, Vice President of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at St. Louis Regional Chamber; Eric Johnson, Executive Director of Saint Louis Fashion Fund; Eric Thoelke, President and Executive Creative Director of TOKY; Caleres Representative; and Elizabeth Tucker, CEO at ALIVE.
St. Louis-based apparel or accessories designers, makers and brands that are looking to take their business to the next level are encouraged to apply by Sept. 30 though the Saint Louis Fashion Week website. Finalists will be presented at a public event that will take place on Nov. 10 at Majorette in Maplewood, and tickets are now on sale.
In addition to the Caleres FEC, multiple STLFW-supported events will take place throughout the fall season, starting Sept. 1. Key events include Sept.First featuring House Ov Beeombi, Celebrate Style Runway Show, an STLFW panel discussion during St. Louis Design Week, An Evening of Ballet & Fashion with the Saint Louis Fashion Fund and Saint Louis Ballet, The Factory Fashion Show and Night Market, Fright Night Pop-Up Shop with Living Collective and more to be announced soon.
The expanded STLFW calendar supports the upcoming launch of the Saint Louis Fashion Incubator, in addition to focusing on fulfilling its mission of supporting and elevating the local fashion community.
