Real Wedding: An Elegant Dream Day
Lindsey Smith and Adam Wood planned a gorgeous affair that included a traditional wedding and reception at a unique St. Louis destination.
The Vows: The bride (27, Global Trade Compliance Analyst at Monsanto) and groom (31, Scientific Business Analyst at Monsanto) became Mr. and Mrs. in front of 310 friends and family members at St. Vincent de Paul in Soulard. A vocalist and musicians from Elegant Ensembles (314.432.0606, elegantensembles.net) upped the elegance with powerful performances throughout the ceremony featuring a violin, cello, trumpet and organ.
The Theme: The colors of the dayeggplant, moss green and ivorycarried out the winery theme Lindsey selected to celebrate one of the couples favorite fall activities. Vines and grape bunches decorated the chocolate with raspberry mouse-flavored wedding cake from Sugaree Baking Company (314.645.5496, sugareebaking.com) and special party-favor cookies, from Edible Art (636.305.6498).
The Party: Millennium Music (314.918.9335,milleniummusic.net) emceed a cocktail hour and traditional dances at the Kemp Auto Museum in Chesterfield (636.537.1718, kempautomuseum.org). The Kemp Auto Museums design team helped the bride and groom create the gorgeous reception decor, going above and beyond to make sure Lindseys theme was carried out in every aspect. After dinner, guests let loose to live music by the high-energy party band PowerPlay (314.335.7409, powerplaybandstlouis.com). Dramatically uplit drapes added to the already-stunning surroundings.
The Fare: Russos (314.427.6771, russosgourmet.com) catered quite the feast with Southwestern grilled shrimp canape? and other scrumptious, bite-sized apps; a harvest salad with Granny Smith apples, roasted red peppers, seedless red grapes, blue cheese crumbles and homemade Lavosh; and a main course of hand-carved beef tenderloin, stuffed Greek chicken breast and fresh greens.
