Openings
Monday, Jan. 20: The Corner Cup celebrated their soft opening last week in the heart of Dogtown with complimentary coffee drinks and food samples. Located next to their sister restaurant, Tamm Avenue Grill, The Corner Cup hopes to fill the neighborhood need for an artisanal coffee house by featuring pour-overs and healthy food options—including gluten-free, organic and paleo items. Co-owner Ben Strake told Riverfront Times that they will also provide machine-brewed coffee for people hoping to pop in for a quick cup. Check out The Corner Cup’s Facebook page for more details. Open Monday through Sunday from 6am to 9pm. 1221 Tamm Ave., Dogtown, 636.667.9409.

Monday, Jan. 27: Dan and Amy Maddox filled the cases for the first time this week during the opening of Brevan’s Patisserie in Edwardsville, Ill. The husband-and-wife team have combined their culinary school degrees and Dan’s years of experience in professional kitchens to open a shop dedicated to a wide variety of French pastries. As Sauce Magazine reported, Brevan’s will offer cinnamon rolls and braids, cakes, muffins and scones along with other desserts and gluten-free baked goods. Goshen Coffee will also be served at Brevan’s where the owners are aiming to boast a local, family-oriented atmosphere. Open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 5pm. 1009 Century Dr., Edwardsville, Ill., 618.307.5772.

Mid-March: Art and wine will soon make a happy pairing in the Grand Center when The Dark Room, a wine bar/art gallery hybrid, opens later this winter. Ken Kranzberg and Chris Hansen of the Kranzberg Arts Center are partnering with the International Photography Hall of Fame to bring the unique wine bar concept to life in the former home of the William Shearburn Gallery. Inside The Dark Room there will be about 40 seats, with just under 20 along the bar and the rest at two large community tables stretching along the exhibition space that will showcase photographs curated by the International Photography Hall of Fame. A menu of small plates featuring cheese boards, charcuterie and desserts is planned to accompany the wines and dozen or so local craft beers. 615 Grand Blvd., Grand Center.

Closings:
Monday, Jan. 17: Café Arnold, 3946 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, Mo.
Saturday, Jan. 22: Top of the Riverfront, the rotating restaurant located on the 28th floor of The Millennium closed along with the hotel.
