Friday, June 6: Stur, a new nightspot serving up signature cocktails and a chef-driven menu, has opened at 4 Club Centre Court in Edwardsville. First-time restaurant owners, Angie and John Schmitt, are catering to the sophisticated side of Edwardsville with their 20-seat cocktail lounge and 80-seat restaurant. Behind the bar, look for a long list of handcrafted cocktails along with bottled beer and a handful of wines available by the bottle or glass. On the menu are appetizers, like lemongrass chicken wings or house-made hummus, along with a full lineup of entrees, salads and sandwiches. Tuesday, June 10: Indulgencies come in many forms at Se7en Cupcakes and Martinis, a combined bakery and bar concept that opened last month at 5045 N. Hwy. N in Cottleville. Rebecca and Paul Tedford are the husband-and-wife duo responsible for tempting locals with seven sinfully good flavors that can be enjoyed in cupcake or martini form. Se7en Cupcakes and Martinis is also available to host a wide range of private events – everything from bridal showers and birthday parties to painting classes and corporate events. Monday, July 1: At the start of the week Kaldi’s Coffee opened its 13th location inside the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center on Washington University’s School of Medicine campus at 520 S. Euclid Ave. The new storefront will help keep residents well fueled for their rounds thanks to a full lineup of Kaldi’s coffee drinks along with plenty of freshly made breakfast and vegetarian lunch options. Kaldi’s at Farrell is open to public and has guest wifi. Open Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 4pm. 520 S. Euclid Ave., Central West End.
Late Sept./Early Oct: Gulf Shores Restaurant and Grill has announced plans for a second location at 215 Harvard Dr. in Edwardsville. Owner Harry Parker has been serving up classic Cajun eats for almost eight years at his original Creve Coeur location. Renovations on the new Gulf Shores, which will have more than 150 chairs and outdoor dining, are slated to wrap up by early autumn.
Sunday, June 22: The restaurant and nightclub, Lola, shuttered last month at 500 N. 14th St. in Downtown.
Friday, June 27: The South City landmark, Lemmons, closed its doors at 5800 Gravois Ave.
July: The Nest announced it will close in the next 30 days at 10440 German Blvd. in Frontenac.
