Dec. 12: Originating in Pennsylvania, Walnut Grill has dropped its first St. Louis location in Ellisville. Boasting a sophisticated dining atmosphere, the menu caters to a vast audience as it includes categories from flatbreads and sandwiches to seafood and pasta entrees. The “chef’s best” marked items include items like wild mushroom chicken, roasted beet salad, fish tacos and more. Expect to find a dessert menu and extensive wine, beer and cocktail list as well. The restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner with a Sunday brunch buffet offered from 10am-3pm. 1386 Clarkson/Clayton Center, Ellisville, 636.220.1717
Early January: New Mexican restaurant, El Burro Loco, will be joining the Central West End neighborhood. Located in the former Pasta House Co. space, the in-the-works spot will serve authentic flavorful Mexican dishes like enchiladas, fajitas and more in a colorful, family-friendly atmosphere. 313 N. Euclid Ave., Central West End, 314.224.5701
Dec. 29: With no prior notice, all four Romano’s Macaroni Grill locations in the St. Louis area closed for business. Footage on local news showed the Texas-based restaurant chain’s signs and furniture being removed from the sites.
Tonight, Home Wine Kitchen will be serving its final meal to customers. The popular Maplewood dining spot is offering a “final supper” for New Year’s Eve, which in the restaurant’s chain email/menu stated, “We couldn’t think of a better night to end things on!” The five-course meal is $75 per person and will include dishes like beef tartare, seafood stew, sweet potato bisque and more. Though this may be the final night for owners Cassy Vires and Josh Renbarger at Home Wine Kitchen, Feast announced yesterday that Vires will be joining Southern comfort food favorite Juniper as head chef with chef/co-owner John Perkins. 7322 Manchester Road, Maplewood, 314.802.7676
