Openings: Tony's Bringing Cafe Concept Downtown, Old Bakery Beer Company Debuts in Alton

Jan. 23: Alton, Illinois welcomed the highly anticipated Old Bakery Beer Company last weekend in a space formerly known as Colonial Bakery, which dates back to the 1800s. The sustainable brewery—co-owned by husband/wife duo James Rogalsky and Lauren Pattan—crafts all the beer from 100 percent American, USDA-certified organic malts and hops. The restaurant and tasting room features a seasonal menu of sandwiches, salads and soups created to pair alongside the brews as well as highlight local produce and artisan goods utilized from Southern Illinois and Eastern Missouri. 400 Landmarks Blvd., Alton, Ill.

Feb. 6: Carnitas tacos, duck confit gizzard arepas and more Latin American flavors were highlighted for a menu preview last week for new restaurant Público. Mid-February: The Bommarito family behind the nationally-recognized Tony’s Restaurant and Anthony’s Bar will be opening a new cafe concept on the first floor of the Equitable Building called Tony’s A.M. in mid-February. April 2015: Mastermind Vodka will be making a home in St. Louis this spring. As reported by Sauce, the award-winning Illinois-based distillery plans to move into the former space of The Nest in Frontenac.
