Openings: The Dining District Opens in United Provisions Grocery, Second Location for Urban Eats Opens in Central Library
Monday, Aug. 11: Long-awaited international grocery store United Provisions is now open in the Delmar Loop. The new development houses The Dining District, helmed by chef Ben Poremba of Elaia, Olioand the upcoming Old Standard. As previously reported by ALIVE, the restaurant works in a similar fashion to food markets like Eataly or Dean & Deluca, featuring different stations such as a sushi bar, a deli, a grill, artisan cheeses and cured meats. The lunch menu includes a mix of sandwiches, salads and burgers, and the dinner menu features shared plates, a raw bar, sushi, salads, burgers and grilled entrees. Tuesday, Aug. 12: Urban Eats is hosting a grand opening for their Central Library location today from 11am-1pm. Instead of an old-fashioned ribbon-cutting ceremony, they’re having a stuffed muffin cutting by Mayor Francis Slay, with samples of the “ceremonial muffin,” as well as smoothies, coffee, tea, wraps, salads and other treats. October/November: Owner and chef Scott Sandler plans to bring Neapolitan-style pizza to Soulard with Pizzeoli. The menu will specialize in 12-inch pizzas cooked in an 800-degree wood-burning oven with dough that’s fermented between 12 and 24 hours and fresh mozzarella made daily.
