Monday, Dec. 30: The Gamlin brothers have been busy boys this year, opening Gamlin Whiskey House a few months ago, as well as expanding SubZero Vodka Bar into the Blues and Rams stadiums. Next week, they’ll debut their latest venture, Taha’a Twisted Tiki, at 4199 Manchester Road in The Grove. According to a press release sent out this week, the “island nightclub atmosphere will feature more than 150 rums and traditional tropical cocktails such as the Rum Runner, Mai Tai and Volcano… . The dining menu will include island skewers, tropical sides and plates of traditional Polynesian fare.” Taha’a also features a year-round patio complete with tiki torches and a fire pit. The tiki lounge will be open from 4pm to 1:30am, Monday through Saturday. Updates on the opening are available on Taha’a Twisted Tiki’s Facebook page.

January 2014: Pairings Wine & Dessert Bar has been teasing their opening since summer 2013. The most recent updates hint at an opening during the first week of January. The concept for the indulgent eatery is based on food and wine pairings, with over 40 wines in stock and a food menu of aged cheeses, wood-fired pizzas and decadent daily dessert offerings. Pairings will be located at 1131 Colonnade Center in Des Peres and will be open 11am to 10pm seven days a week.

January 2014: If you’ve been mourning the loss of Land of Smile in Olivette since it closed in June 2012, you’ll be glad to know that owner Joe Nanthavong has a new restaurant in the works. Thai Bistro, at 2436 Taylor Road in Wildwood, will feature a number of the menu items formerly available at Land of Smile, as well as a few new dishes Nanthavong has been cooking up. While there is no official opening date yet, he’s hoping for a January debut. More details as they are announced.

Summer 2014: For nearly a year now, there has been speculation on what restaurant might take up residence in the forthcoming Drury Inn & Suites Brentwood, currently under construction at the corner of Brentwood Boulevard and Eager Road. It has been announced that Bonefish Grill has secured the coveted spot, bringing a bevy of fresh fish and seafood options to the popular shopping area. The Florida-based chain specializes in wood-grilled fish and seafood, and will be open for dinner only and Sunday brunch.
