Openings: Mike Randolph Opens The Good Pie And Announces Plans For Another Concept On Delmar, Doors Open At New Urban Chestnut Bierhall

Thursday, Feb. 27: After a near half-year hiatus since closing their doors in Midtown, The Good Pie is now dishing up their delicious napoletano pizza in University City. Fan favorites from the original menu at Midtown, such as sopressata with tomato and mozzarella or the zesty arugula salad topped with shaved Parmigiano and lemon, will still be available along with an impressive craft beer and cocktail list. Friday, Feb. 28: Urban Chestnut Brewing Company officially opened the doors to their new 70,000-square-foot facility in The Grove. The space is the largest craft brewery in St. Louis and includes a bierhall and extensive bottling line that will increase production to 15,000 barrels of beer per year. Guests can order from an extensive menu of Germanic fare while sipping a beer inside the large indoor bar or on the outdoor patio overlooking Manchester Avenue. Urban Chestnut’s original Midtown location will remain open. Saturday, March 15: A good sign that spring is actually on its way came from the Midtown Farmers Market, which announced that the pre-season opening will be March 15. A new location puts the market in a lot behind 6655 Delmar Blvd. where there will be plenty of space for farmers and vendors to set up shop. So far Sugar Creek Piedmontese, Grandma’s Nuts and Circle B Ranch have verbalized their participation at the pre-season opening on the Facebook page for Midtown Farmers Market. The growing season officially kicks off on May 3, meaning that the market will be up and running on the first and third Saturday of the each month. July: Mike Randolph is making himself right at home on Delmar Boulevard following the announcement of another restaurant, called Público, that will be located just two doors down the street from The Good Pie. As reported by Sauce Magazine late last week, the Mexican gastropub concept is expected to be open for business by July of this year. The former chef de cuisine of Little Country Gentleman, Dale Beauchamp, will be heading up the open-wood hearth kitchen at Público. Lunch and dinner will be offered with an emphasis on tacos during the day and more complex entrees and unique starters on the menu at night. 6679 Delmar Blvd., University City. 

No date yet: The Riverfront Times reported that University City can soon expect to enjoy the English favorite fish and chips along with other entrees from the land and sea at New England Fish & Chips Co. Currently, the restaurant owners are in the process of obtaining an occupancy permit through the Office of Community Development in order to begin working on the space.
